Getting to know Dusit: Mr. Joel
Mr. Joel, Upper Key Stage 2 Coordinator
-Why did you choose to be a teacher?
My mother taught in primary schools for over 20 years, so it runs in the family! She originally suggested the idea. My first experience was teaching English to adults, and as soon as I stood in front of a class for the first time and felt the joy of seeing learning happen, I knew it was the right career for me.
-What is your vision, mission or philosophy in teaching and education?
I want all my students to be safe, happy and valued. Only then can they be ready to learn, and we can build their confidence and challenge them to aim high. If my students enjoy coming to school and feel they are improving, then I feel I am doing my job right.

-What makes you proud or excited to be working at Dusit?
The sense of community and family is key. Being a father myself, the benchmark for a great school is whether I would send my own child there. It doesn't take long to see that everybody working at Dusit cares deeply about children and their education, so I can't wait to send my own kids here in the future!
-What is your favourite Dusit Value and why?
Determination is something that all of us have needed in recent years. Nothing worth doing ever comes easily, and life will always throw up plenty of unexpected hurdles. It is important that we nurture and support our students to overcome these challenges.
-What is the best advice that you would pass onto your younger self or our students?
Mistakes are opportunities to learn, so don't be afraid to make them.
