Getting to know Dusit: Ms. Joanne

Published by Dusit Marketing

Ms. Joanne, Early Years Coordinator

-Why did you choose to become a teacher?

As a guider and youth leader, I loved working with children. After travelling the world solo, it gave me the time to reflect on life and to follow my passion of becoming an Early Year’s teacher.

-What is your vision, mission or philosophy in teaching and education?

To create an atmosphere of curiosity and engagement with learning in a play based environment. Ensuring the children are not only challenged and encouraged but we are also ensuring there are plenty of opportunities for them to take ownership of their thoughts and ideas.

-What makes you proud or excited to be working at Dusit?

I love working at Dusit. I have been welcomed by a fantastic team of dedicated and passionate educators.

-What is your favourite Dusit Value and why?

All the Dusit values have equal importance but in the Early Years, I think it has to be independence. It is so important to teach children to be independent from an early age; to learn to feed themselves, dress themselves and begin to learn things for themselves.

-What is the best advice that you would pass onto your younger self or our students?

Stay curious; there is no such a thing as a stupid question!
